Baroka were pushed back by Bucs early on, but Augustine Mulenga failed to rattle the back of the net due to good goalkeeping.
It was all Pirates threatening towards the half an hour mark as a shot from outside the box from Thembinkosi Lorch narrowly made contact with the outside post.
Just as Baroka started to get into the game, Pirats threw the sucker punch as Vincent Pule brought down a ball from outside the box to find the top corner on 32 minutes.
That said the tone for the Soweto giants to run riot, and so it happened. Pule got out wide and send a long ball to Lorch who capitalised on poor defensive communication for his second of the season.
Baroka had no answers to stage a come back heading to the break as a shot from the outside the boot by Matome Kgoetyane nearly caught out Siyabonga Mpontshane.
It didn’t take Baroka long attempting to launch a come back after Mduduzi Mdantsane came away with possession to flash wide of Mpontshane’s goal.
Another effort from the byline by Kgoetyane again put worrying signs on Mpontshane, with the effort narrowly missing the target.
Soon, Bucs shrugged off the harassment and Lorch was able to ask questions of their own after combining with Thabo Matlaba, but shot wide from a distance.
Baroka continued to put the pressure and Kgoetyane’s run down the byline allowed him to get a crack on goal that whizzled across the face of goal.
The breakthrough finally sounded as Onkabetsi Makgantai pounced on poor defending for an easy tap-in.
Bidding to avoid the midweek repeat against Cape Town City, the Buccaneers shored up the lead with the substitution of Musa Nyatama for Mulenga 10 minutes from time.
The change seemed to be just what the doctor ordered as suddenly Bucs were on top again, and nearly restored their two-goal advantage with a cross-cum shot from Diamond Thopola.
The Sea Robbers sealed the victory in the end despite the late flurry from Baroka to move to the top of the table
