Ea Lla Koto frustrate Baroka

Baroka started with high pressure in the opening three minutes. A long ball up-field found Ranga Chivaviro who beat the offside trap only to miss the net by a whisker.

The first chance for Stars came after 12 minutes when Goodman Dlamini controlled at the back post to shoot into the side-netting.

However, the hosts were unfortunate not to have a penalty awarded in their favour after Mpho Kgaswane was brought down in the box front of the match officials on 14 minutes.

Bakgaga didn’t stop threatening. In the 26th minute, a shot from the right by Chivaviro forced Stars goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare to tip away for a corner.

From the corner, the Limpopo side missed consecutive chances to open the deadlock with Chivaviro firing straight at Sangare followed by Onkgebatsi Makgantai heading wide from close range.

Towards halftime, both sides were reduced to shots from range with neither goalkeeper being tested as all efforts flew well over the top.

In the second half, the pace of the game dropped slightly with neither defence tested to the fullest as all efforts on goal went astray five minutes from resumption.

Bakgaga were handed their best chance on 57 minutes when Chivaviro sent Makgantai through goal but the Botswana-born shot over the bar after getting goal-side.

Seeing how hard the struggle for goals went on, both sets of benches opted to bring on the necessary changes.

For Baroka, Thabo Moseki replaced Chivaviro and Judas Moseamedi took place of an ineffective Linda Bhengu for Stars at the midway point.

The pressure for the winner grew stronger in the final moments, as a shot from Mdantsane on the edge of the box found of the top of the goal-post.

Then, a shot from close range courtesy of Matome Kgoetyane went straight to opposing goalkeeper, Sangare, following a cluster of defenders,

It was left to substitute Jemondre Dickens to take Baroka out of their misery, but his header bounced the ground before hitting the top of the post as both sides settled for a draw.
