‘VV’ satisfied with victory

A late goal by Daine Klate gave the Buccaneers all three points, which lifted them to second on the Absa Premiership standings, seven points behind log leaders Kaizer Chiefs who play Ajax Cape Town this afternoon.

And Vermezovic was pleased that his side is closing the gap on the current PSL leaders.

“It was very an important win for us and now we are three steps closer to Chiefs,” Vermezovic said.

“We knew in preparation for our game that it won't be easy because they are very dangerous from counter attacks and set pieces.

“For almost 85 minutes, our goalkeeper (Senzo Meyiwa) didn't have a job and in the last five minutes, he was under fire. The players had to stay focus for 95 minutes and at the end of the day, we have to be satisfied with the three points and this win.

“We could have finished with more goals but their goalkeeper (Glenn Verbauwhede) was on top of his game and congratulations to him.”

The win leaves Pirates on 14 points after eight matches, level with Ajax Cape Town who face the Glamour Boys in the Mother City later on Sunday.
