Ea Lla Koto’s Sello Japhta netted on either side of the break to help his side to a 2-1 win over Celtic, who pushed hard in the latter stages but could not find the equaliser against their resilient provincial neighbours.
“It was a difficult game because Celtic play for survival, and with a lot of determination,” Solinas told SuperSport after the game. “I’m very proud of my players, who played very, very well in the first half. We also started the second half very well, but suffered a bit near the end of the game, but that’s normal as Celtic was pushing very hard.”
The win sees Stars jump up to eighth in the PSL standings, but their Italian coach wants more, despite his side earning three wins on the trot.
“I’m not satisfied,” he said. “Yes, I’m happy with the three points, but we need to improve: we need to improve the system, the movement, defensively and offensively also.”
