Untersee staying in Lichtenstein

The 20-year-old right-back helped Vaduz win promotion to the Swiss top-flight for the 2014/15 season after signing for the club in January, and also helped them claim the Liechtenstein Cup, which means they will feature in the UEFA Europa League, starting tomorrow.

Vaduz are at home to Gibraltar club College Europa in their first European club cup game on Thursday.

Untersee made 15 appearances for the side last season and is also a regular with the Swiss junior sides having played 34 times for the country so far.

Lichtenstein has a population of just some 35 000 – which would leave seats to spare if they all tried to fit into Orlando Stadium – and borders Switzerland and Austria.

Untersee, who was born in Roodepoort but spent most of his life in Switzerland, has made his way through the Juventus academy having been signed by the club three years ago from FC Zurich.

He has already played at every junior level for Switzerland from Under-15 to Under-20 and is able to also operate as a right-winger or defensive midfielder.

Untersee has been likened to former Juve, Barcelona and AC Milan full-back Gianluca Zambrotta.
