Rennes signed Erasmus over a year ago from Orlando Pirates, but he was recently farmed out to Lens after struggling for game-time in Ligue One.

The 26-year-old has since featured in six games for the Blood and Gold and helped them reach the top of the table.

"Step back? Have you seen the Ligue Two? You must watch. Go to YouTube and type Ligue Two and type my team, you'll see," said Erasmus, who is in the Bafana squad for Saturday's friendly with Guinea-Bissau at Moses Mabhida Stadium (15h00 kick-off).

"We average 25 000 fans a game so you look at the game and you'll see for yourself.

"But getting a loan, it has helped me a lot because I've been playing a lot now since I've been on loan.

"I've been contributing to getting us to the number one position in the league. So for me I'm very happy. The club is happy with my progress, with my contribution and the coach is happy as well, and that is why I'm happy. My family is happy. It is a good period for me, not only in my career but also my life."

Erasmus has scored once in 11 international appearances. He last wore the national team's kit in November 2014 in a 2015 AFCON qualifier against Nigeria in Uyo.

The former SuperSport United man received a recall from interim coach Owen da Gama, having fallen out with former coach Shakes Mashaba.
