Bad break for Ralani

The 26-year-old was close to tears as he told reporters that he has snapped the cruciate ligaments in his knee and faces six months at least on the sidelines.

That ends his hopes of playing again this year and leaves his Landskrona side in the relegation zone and without their star man.

“I was all by myself and my boot got stuck in artificial pitch,” he was quoted by HD Online. “I understood immediately that it was really serious. It was a tremendous pain, as if I was struck by lightning on the knee.”

Ralani, a product of Farouk Khan’s Stars of Africa Academy, who like May Mahlangu never played in the PSL but went straight to Sweden, has been looked at by a number of top-flight teams in that country and elsewhere in Europe.

But every time he looks as though he is making progress, he gets injured and so it has proved again.

Ralani almost joined Tokelo Rantie at Malmo early last year, but that move was scuppered by injury.

He then signed a new two-year contract with Landskrona that expires at the end of this season, suggesting he may have played his final game for a club he had represented since 2010.
