The duo were named amongst 14 squad members who had the option in their contracts extended by Dash following the culmination of the 2018 NWSL season.

The South African pair, both in their first season playing in the USA after joining at the start of the season, played an integral role in a historic season for Dash, who despite finishing sixth of nine teams on the season-ending log, recorded the most goals, the most wins and the most points of any season in their four-year history.

Former South African national Under-20 captain Motlhalo played 21 of the 24 games across the campaign, chipping in with a solitary goal, while Kgatlana made two starts and 14 substitute appearances in her first season in America, scoring two league goals and contributing three assists.

Both Motlhalo and Kgatlana were part of Banyana Banyana’s victorious COSAFA Cup squad, playing a pivotal role in helping the team defend their title, while both have been included in the national team squad jetting off to Chile today ahead of two international friendly fixtures.

Centre-back and Banyana captain Janine van Wyk, who has spent the last two years playing for Dash, recently revealed she would not be remaining in the USA, opting to return home to play for her club JVW in the Gauteng Sasol Women’s League.
