Pirates were knocked out of the MTN8 by Matsatsantsa last month, drawing the match 2-2 after extra-time at Orlando Stadium, before the tight encounter had to be decided in a penalty shootout.

SuperSport have always given Pirates problems, so Mlambo says they need to make sure their game plan is on point if they are to finally get a victory over the Tshwane outfit.

The Buccaneers host the three-time league champions at Orlando Stadium in an Absa Premiership tie (20h15), looking for their third victory of the season.

“We have to make sure that we convert our chances. Whatever we did in the last game was good, but we need to limit conceding goals. Apart from that I think we played that game pretty well. There were small mistakes here and there, which is what we need to rectify to prevent them from scoring,” Mlambo said.

“They have a good team with quality players and they are not an easy side to play against, so we have to give them the respect, work on what we believe in and double our efforts. They have a lot of international players, experienced players, so we will have a tough game. We just have to soldier on.”

Mlambo says they were able to work on a few problem areas during the international break

“The international break was good. We played friendly games and worked on certain things we needed to improve on. But on the other hand it was also difficult. We have players who were away on international duty, so it was tricky for us. But those who stayed behind learnt and those who are coming back will come back with international experience.”
