Bucs to reward individual performers

The Buccaneers will hold their first end-of-season awards gala since 2014, following their resurgence in the recent campaign, on July 19.

Pirates managed a second-place finish – their highest since winning the league title back in 2011/12 and a massive improvement on their worst showing in the PSL era the season before.

The arrival of head coach Milutin Sredojevic and his assistant Rhulani Mokwena has proven to be a good omen for the club, who haven't celebrated any individual contributions in the last four years.

While they remain trophyless since their Nedbank Cup triumph in 2014, the Rosettenville-based outfit are looking to acknowledge key players who stood out in their 'rebuilding' season.

After all, Bucs had three representatives nominated in four different categories at the PSL Awards held in May.

Sredojevic was nominated for Coach of the Season, Musa Nyatama for Midfielder and Players' Player of the Season, and Innocent Maela for Defender of the Season.

While the aforementioned players are likely to be recognised at the club awards, the likes of Luvuyo Memela and Justin Shonga also deserve special mention for their contributions in the team.

The ceremony is set to be hosted at the Barnyard Theatre in Sunninghill.
