Micho likens Gabuza to a crocodile

Gabuza has not featured much domestically this season, but has previously shown how useful he can be when the Buccaneers play on the continent.

During Pirates’ run to the CAF Confederation Cup final in 2015, Gabuza’s six goals were enough to see him finish as the joint-top scorer with Georges Ambourouet of CF Mounana and Etoile du Sahel’s Baghdad Bounedjah.

Gabuza was Bafana Bafana’s top scorer in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, scoring three goals. He is certainly a different player when on the continent and this will no doubt help Pirates when their Champions League campaign kicks off next week against Lightstars from Seychelles.

“There are some players in our team, including Gabuza, that have experience and they have a mindset from all the pressures that South African football brings on them. They feel like they are amongst the crocodiles in African football; so Gabuza is a football crocodile that knows how to win in the murky waters of African football and 2015 is classic proof of that,” ‘Micho’ says.

“I believe he will put himself in the right shape that will give us the reason that we could entrust him in the matches that are ahead of us.”
