Stemmer offers Ncikazi, Davids free advice!

Orlando Pirates

Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Thabani Stemmer issued free advice to the club's technical team ahead of the Cape Town City match this evening.

The Buccaneers host the Citizens in a DStv Premiership clash taking place at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday, 17h30.

Still fresh from the demolition of Eswatini side Royal Leopards in the CAF Confederations Cup, Pirates are expected to have their heads held high heading into the City game as a win might see them reclaiming the second-placed position on the log table.

Stemmer believes that the Soweto giants will easily carry their Confederations Cup form into today's match, but advises Ncikazi and Davids to rotate the team and save some of the players for Saturday's Soweto derby.

"On Sunday the guys were ready and you could see they wanted to win at all costs,” he tells

"The good thing is that we are scoring goals, the sad part is that we are conceding goals.

"If we are not solid during the derby, then the likes of Khama Billiat, Samir Nurkovic and Keagan Dolly will score lots of goals.

"I'm praying that they rotate the squad because then again the traveling will have an impact on players, so we need to rotate the midfield and strike force, the back four maybe we shouldn't tamper that too much, otherwise legs will be gone by the time the derby day arrives.

"It's difficult to prepare for a derby when you have a midweek game, but I know they are professionals and as a professional, you play one game at a time.

"You need to respect Cape Town City because they are a very good side with a good coach as well.

"We still need the three points on Wednesday because Royal AM is posing a threat,” he said.
