‘Lucky won’t dwell on issues’

Orlando Pirates

Lekgwathi has been at the centre of a storm after claiming in his column in the Daily Sun that ‘sinister forces’ were behind his exclusion from the team. This after he was left out of the squad for the MTN8 Final.

The 37-year-old last played in the goalless draw against Al-Ahly on September 22, but has been included in the travelling squad for the trip to Tunisia tonight.

Motale, who captained Pirates in the Final when they won the 1995 edition, says Lekgwathi is key to the team’s chances of success, especially now that Siyabonga Sangweni has been ruled out with a torn Achilles.

“We need Lucky for this match and if I was the coach or the chairman, I was going to play him regardless of what happened between him and the club,” ‘Magents’ tells KickOff.com.

“By now I hope whatever issues Lucky had with the club is resolved and it’s water under the bridge because this is not the week to be worried about such things. This week Lucky should worry about one thing and that is playing for the club.

“But I know him very well and he is not someone who dwells too about happened in the past. With Siyabonga Sangweni injured, Lucky is the perfect solution for that. Whenever he puts the Black and White jersey, he always gives 100 per cent until the final whistle.”
