Coton Sport vs Al Ahly abandoned

Orlando Pirates

Zambian referee Jan Sikazwe brought the match to an end in the second half, when he judged the pitch to be unplayable after a heavy downpour of rain.

The score was 0-0 at the time.

According to CAF Champions League regulations, the match must be replayed on Sunday (today).

Article 7 of the regulations states: “If the match is stopped before the end of the regular time for reasons of force majeure and notably for poor ground conditions and or bad weather conditions to be decided upon by the referee, the match is to be replayed 24 hours later at the same venue and with the same referees.”

However, there has yet to be official confirmation that will be the case.

Al Ahly were frustrated at the referee’s decision, as they were in control of the match at the time, with Mohamed Aboutreika and Abdallah El-Said coming close to opening the scoring.

Orlando Pirates were held to a 0-0 draw by Esperance in the other semi-final.
