Ngoma signed with Pirates last season but was quickly loaned out to University of Pretoria before he could even play for the Mighty Buccaneers.

The Tshwane-born midfielder started the game as left winger, a position normally occupied by Daine Klate, who was sitting on the stands against City at Orlando Stadium.

“It was a very exciting moment to walk on that pitch wearing the Pirates jersey,” Ngoma tells KickOff.com.

“It’s been a long wait and it feels so special that we came out with a victory.

“I was happy with my performance even though I lacked a 100 percent fitness level.

“I want to thank the technical team for giving me a chance to play. It shows that even though I’ve not been playing they still believe in my abilities. I just have to continue working hard and make sure that I continue to do well at training.”

Pirates beat City 1-0 for their first points in the League season. They next take on Al Alhy in a crucial CAF Champions League match at Orlando Stadium on Sunday.
