Chawapiwa says a point will do

With a squad depleted by injuries, Zimbabwe winger Talent Chawapihwa says getting a draw would suffice in today's tricky trip to Congo in a 2019 AFCON qualifier.

The Warriors will be missing midfielder Marvelous Nakamba, defender Costa Nhamoinesu and AmaZulu attacker Ovidy Karuru through injury.

China-based ex-Mamelodi Sundowns striker Nyasha Mushekwi has also been ruled out because of a mysterious medical condition, while England-born defenders Tendayi Darikwa and Adam Chicksen of Nottingham Forest and Bradford City respectively failed to secure travel documents.

However, Kaizer Chiefs playmaker Khama Billiat appears to have recovered in time for the contest in Brazzaville.

"Everything is going well, according to plan," Baroka forward Chawapihwa told

"It's a tricky game, we just have to give it our all with no mistakes."

The Warriors' opponents have struggled on home soil in recent years, but Chawapihwa is not reading too much into this.

"That makes the game more difficult. Because of the history they have at home, they will throw everything to make sure they break that history of not winning at home for the past two years.

"[We need to] play our normal attacking game, not give them a chance to breathe. A draw will be enough because we are away, we don't want a loss."

Zimbabwe top Group G on goal difference thanks to a 3-0 thumping of Liberia, while Congo-Brazzaville lost 3-1 to Democratic Republic of Congo in their first AFCON qualifier.
