Mthembu, who was also on Orlando Pirates’ wanted list, was with the Amakhosi squad at Naturena on Tuesday when they started pre-season training.
According to one of the senior players at Chiefs, the Melmoth-born striker who was on the books of Vodacom side, Maritzburg City, last season, looked very settled at training and comfortable with his new surroundings.
“Even though we haven’t been in a game situation yet, the boy looks to be a good signing for Chiefs. He has settled nicely and is talking easily with the rest of the guys at training.
“The youngster will need the support and guidance from some of the senior players and hopefully the team will also try to protect him from playing under a lot of pressure in his first season with Kaizer Chiefs,” the source added.
