With the Soweto giants having a miserable season and being criticised from all quarters, the victory could not have come at a more important time.
“That win was much needed - the morale has been low recently and we desperately needed the three points. To do it away from home against a team performing so well in the league was great,” the former Platinum Stars player tells KickOff.com.
After having gone a goal down to Kennedy Mweene’s penalty the writing seemed to be on the wall for coach Muhsin Ertugral and his team, but four goals in 20 minutes showed there is still fight within the Amakhosi ranks.
“We showed great character and a lot of spirit to turn the game around after trailing. I was happy with my own performance in helping the team to win and was pleased to help set up one of the goals,” says Phala, who has been given a lot more game-time by Ertugral since the turn of the year.
“I must just keep working hard and as for the team, we will be taking things one game at a time,” he adds.
