URA begin search for a coach

The taxmen’s mentor Frank Anyau ended a two-year reign on Monday after the team’s 1-0 defeat against Maji in the league.

Stephen Serebe chairman of the club said that they would take their time and go for a right coach.

“We are taking our time and since the season is half way we might stay with the remaining set up we have.”

Sam Ssimbwa (Simba), Moses Basena (KCC FC) and Jackson Mayanja are some of the likely candidates that have been mentioned.

However, Mayanja, who is without a club at the moment after quitting KCC last season, was non-committal about rejoining the side he guided to promotion in 2001.

“URA know what they want and I cannot lobby for the post. If they think I am useful, they will approach me,” Mayanja said.

Anyau won the league title 2007 and Champions of Champions Cup the same year, but lost in the finals of the regional club cup, Kagame Cup.

Anyau left the club a bitter man.

“You cannot work in an environment when you are being undermined from within. I had to swallow my pride,” Anyau said after handing in his resignation letter.
