Mashamaite: We want the League

News

Amakhosi have set the pace early on as they are top of the log with seven points after three League matches and Mashamaite firmly believes Chiefs will be in contention until the end, especially if they win their home games.

"We are looking to win the championship this season and it is gonna be vital for us to win most of our home games. So whether you play Black Leopards or Orlando Pirates, there are three points at stake," he tells KickOff.com.

The Glamour Boys take on Lidoda Duvha on Saturday at FNB Stadium with kick off at 8.15pm.

Meanwhile, Mashamaite has rejected suggestions that he is making the starting line-up these days because Morgan Gould is sidelined with a long-term injury.

The former Bidvest Wits skipper insists it is all down to hard work. "I'm not playing because Morgan is injured. We have four centre-backs and I'm playing because I deserve to play. I work hard at training and the coach is rewarding me for my efforts at training," Mashamaite insists.

"It is always good to play and I'm having fun, working hard at training and looking forward to getting more opportunities game-wise," he adds.
