AmaZulu seemed destined to land all three points at the Moses Mabhida Stadium this afternoon, when they opened up a two-goal cushion courtesy of strikes from Ayanda Dlamini and Warren Bishop, but Swallows claimed an unlikely share of the spoils with goals from Siyabonga Nomvete and Gareth Ncaca.
Dlamini netted his third goal of the season when he linked well with fellow striker Myron Shongwe in the 12 minute.
Swallows were not able to fashion any clear cut chances in the first half and should consider themselves lucky to be trailing by only one goal at the interval.
Poor decision-making in advanced areas prevented the Usuth from forging further ahead.
Just after the break Bishop extended Amazulu’s lead with a glancing header from Ntokozo Sokhakhane’s set-piece.
But Swallows got back into the contest when Nomvete netted with a classy volley with 23 minutes to go.
After that the Birds began to soar and pressed for an equaliser. They got a breakthrough in the last minute of play when Ncaca unleashed an unstoppable drive from 25 metres out which crashed into AmaZulu’s goals.
