Fernandez expects tight encounter

Matsatsantsa and Ezimnyama Ngenkani have already played two goalless draws on the trot in Polokwane; the first being the MTN8 semi-finals first leg, which was followed by a League clash.

Now the two sides will face each other for the third time in seven days at the Orlando stadium in the return leg of the MTN8 semi-finals and Fernandez foresees another grueling encounter.

"It has always been a tight affair for us against Pirates. They are a good team, a quality team and they can field so many different teams from their squad and still be competitive. We also have a good squad and we will always be competitive so it just depends on how we apply ourselves on match day," he tells KickOff.com.

The 34-year-old further says he ‘feels good about the weekend' and he hopes SuperSport can seal the tie in regulation time.

"I hope it is settled in 90 minutes so hopefully it will be a football treat for the fans… I just hope we will be in the final," he says.

Fernandez is expected to be in goal for SuperSport, because Ronwen Williams succumbed to a head/neck injury in a collision with Collins Mbesuma early in the second half when the two sides drew on Wednesday.

"I'm extremely excited to be back in the starting eleven. I have been waiting for my chance and I had good preseason under Gavin (Hunt) so I'm looking forward to starting on the weekend," he adds.
