“After this match I am clear in my mind about 20, 21 players. Very clear, two more players to go,” Vogts told Kick Off in the dressing room after watching his wards triumph 1-0 over Switzerland.
And he also stated that the next three weeks would be among the busiest for him as he attempts to gauge the fitness levels of his squad.
“I have to see players playing in the Uefa Cup and Champions League, about their fitness levels. I have to watch Uche against Haifa, watch Portsmouth against Everton on the first of December, and also about what’s happening with Yakubu and with Utaka, Kanu and Yobo.”
With his second string team winning against Switzerland, Vogts said the returnee players would have to earn their shirts all over again.
“When we go to Ghana, we don’t want to play only three matches, we want to play six matches. So everybody must fight for his place,'” the German said with a mischievous chuckle.
