Sundowns win thriller

TP Mazembe dominated the first half with striker Tresor Mputu scoring twice and troubling the Sundowns defence the whole match. Mputu has now scored 11 goals in the competition.

Sundowns came out in the second half a different side and took the attack to their opponents and were rewarded with three goals.

Mputu scored the first of his two goals in the 19th minute with a low right-footed shot that beat a diving Calvin Marlin.

The second goal came in the 39th minute when Mputu scored with a low left-footed shot from inside the box.

In the 57th minute Sundowns pulled a goal back when Shakes Ngwenya scored with a header from a Dillon Sheppard cross.

Sundowns were on equal terms in the 62nd minute when Esrom Nyandoro scored with a stunning volley from outside the box.

In the 92nd minute Surprise Moriri scored with a shot from inside the box.

Sundowns play their next match Confederation Cup match in early August against CS Sfaxien while TP Mazembe face Astres de Douala.
