“Our performance has not been bad,” Barker tells Tuks’ official website. “Unfortunately we haven’t turned those performances into points of which we have to be mindful. You don’t want to be playing well and not getting points.”

Tuks made a number of signings in the off season, and Barker says the new players are still working to fit in.

“It hasn’t been easy, due to a number of changes we have had to make. We have not been at full strength yet, and also players like Fikru Tefera, Obadiah Tarumbwa and Lucky Mathosi are adjusting to the way we do things.

“It was never going be easy, so hopefully we have had a bit of time to get all the paper work done and get players integrated ... from now we need to kick on.”

With just one point from three matches, Tuks lie 14th on the Premiership log, but Barker says that is not an issue at this stage of the season.

“Our position does not worry me at all, after 10 games if we are still in 14th position I would be worried, but we have played three games only.”

University of  Pretoria face Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday.
