Da Gama has been working without an assistant at Bucs since arriving but he has indicated that he would want to have an ex-player at the club as one of his assistants. FC AK CEO Gene Petersen confirmed to Kick Off today that Silent had resigned.
_quote “Brendan has resigned from the club and has already handed in his resignation letter, citing family and study commitments,” says Petersen.
Silent has been at FC AK since the beginning of last season working under Ian Palmer, Serame Letsoaka, Walter Rautmann and current head coach Ali Akan.
Even when the club went through the much publicized financial troubles at the beginning of the year Silent remained on at the Roodepoort-based club.
The 34 year-old Silent joined Pirates from Vaal Reef Stars and went on to play about 270 games, scoring 22 goals, before retiring at the beginning of the 2003-04 season.
Silent played both as a right-sided midfielder and a right back at Pirates during which he won five Bafana caps.
