Coach Carlos das Neves was very impressed with Zuma’s condition and says he’ll be a big drawcard for the club if he puts pen to paper.
“I’m pleasantly surprised to see the condition Zuma is in,” Das Neves told KickOff.com. “He doesn’t have an ounce of fat on him. I hope he still has the energy and desire to play for another year or two.
“I know he’s 35, but so are Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs and they’re doing a fantastic job. Obviously, we’re looking at him; maybe we can come to an arrangement.
“I think Zuma will be a big drawcard; not only for the fans, but also for other players to come to Vasco. He’s a big attraction, people will come to watch Vasco when they hear he’s playing for us and other players will say, ‘Well the club means business – let’s see what they got!’”
Zuma was in a jovial mood afterwards, joking about the possibility of scoring against his old club Orlando Pirates in Vasco’s opening PSL encounter.
“Of course that would be nice,” Zuma laughed. “I enjoyed my training and scored a few goals, but I am just getting over flu which has kept me at home for the past two weeks.”
