Masina hopes for derby debut

Masina, who left Cape Town City when his contract expired at the end of last season, recently penned a one-year deal with Stars with an option to renew.

"It's a new journey for me," Masina tells

The Daveyton-born attacker says he chose the Bethlehem-based side over other teams because they showed they were serious about acquiring his services, as evidenced by coach Luc Eymael personally asking him to join them.

"So what is important my brother to me is to play football, that's all. You cannot say something is an offer when people just talk and not finalise.
"He [Eymael] is the one who gave me a call. He said 'come here my man and play football'. There is nothing more he expects from me than goals."

Masina is naturally eager to show what he can do against high-flying Phunya Sele Sele.

"Everything is fine," he says, regarding being registered with the PSL.

"You know in a derby everyone wants to play. I would be very happy if I can get an opportunity. To make my debut in a derby can make me very happy.

"You know about derbies, everyone wants a win, the atmosphere, there's lots of people who are watching. If I can play well and get a goal people will be very happy my brother.

"If I can only score goals in these remaining nine months, if I can score more than 10 I will be very happy."
