Schalkwyk hopes to don Chiefs jersey

Schalkwyk, who has shed a few kilos, said he has been working hard at training and that his recent discussion with coach, Muhsin Ertugral has raised his hopes of seeing some action soon.

“I am very excited to be back. I have been talking to the coach on a regular basis and he has encouraged me to continue working hard, so I might get a chance to play for Chiefs again.”

Schalkwyk has not seen action since the beginning of the season after being put on transfer by Amakhosi.

The former Under-23 international was allowed to train with Kaizer Chiefs’ development whilst looking for a new team to join and was, at one stage, linked to Black Leopards. However, that move failed to materialise.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Gerald Sibeko, defender Cyril Nzama and striker Shaun Bartlett have still not had their contracts renewed despite their deals with the Naturena outfit expiring at the end of the current season.
