Sikhakhane, Saintfiet, Barreto for Chippa?

The Chilli Boys produced a shocker yesterday by announcing they had parted ways with Mngqithi after just two games in the top-flight.

Sikhakhane, who led Chippa during their promotion-winning season, tells that he is meeting with the team on Friday.

“I am meeting with the club tomorrow,” he tells “I had other things to attend to at home and after that I also suffered an illness. I am okay now and am ready to return to the club.”

Chippa have appointed Julius Dube as caretaker coach while looking for a new coach.

Meanwhile, Belgium-born coach Tom Saintfiet and former Ghana national team mentor Mariano Baretto have submitted their CVs for the vacant coaching job.

Saintfiet has coached the national teams of Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Namibia, and is currently head coach of Young Africans in Tanzania.

“It has always been my wish to coach in South Africa,” Saintfiet tells “The country has good facilities and the PSL is one of the biggest leagues in Africa.”

Local agent, Abbie Rasimphi of Liberate Resources, who represent both Saintfiet and Barreto in Africa, confirms that both me have great interest to coach in South Africa.

“Look, the standard of football in South Africa has improved a lot and the PSL is now not only attracting big-name coaches, but also some great players from Europe,” he says. “Both Barreto and Saintfiet will jump at opportunity to coach in South Africa.”
