KickOff.com reported that the club had told the reserve keeper that he was free to leave as “coach Muhsin Ertugral was unhappy with his social behaviour”.
Roberts had not been seen at first team training recently, and Erturgral told KickOff.com: “There is a problem with Sean Roberts which I took to management which has got nothing to do with a football issue but the social issue, which was disturbing for me … we have given him permission to speak with other clubs.”
However, after speaking to Ajax officials, KickOff.com is satisfied that Roberts remains at the club, though he is currently training with the Under-19s.
Ajax PRO Shooz Mekuto refused to comment on the matter, but states: “Sean Roberts is still an Ajax player, and is still training with Ajax.”
Contacted a second time, Ertugral insists that the matter is with management, but clarifies that by the words “social behaviour” he intended to mean “private behaviour”. He says it would be unfair to Roberts to go into any further detail.
KickOff.com apologises to Roberts for any distress yesterday’s report may have caused.
