Real signed Olympique Lyon forward and f youth product Mariano Diaz on Thursday after just 14 months away from the club.
His record with the Ligue 1 giants of 21 goals and seven assists in 45 games across all competitions convinced Los Blancos to re-sign the 25-year-old in a deal worth a reported €22m.
While the 25-year-old was expected to provide competition for current number nine Karim Benzema, the club has shown an incredible amount of faith by rewarding him with the jersey last worn by the club-record scorer, Ronaldo.
"Today is a very special day, I return home and I can only say thank you. I am very excited to share a dressing room with great players," he said at his unveiling, according to the club's official website.
"I am going to put all my effort into making history. Thank you very much, and Hala Madrid."
