'Playing against Chiefs is a big opportunity'

The centre-back played a starring role in keeping Amakhosi at bay in their 1-0 win at an empty Moses Mabhida Stadium.

After he was named the Man of the Match, Motloung revealed that he was once on the books of Amakhosi but left the club to seek game time at Rise and Shine.

“I’d like to thank God for this talent and the coach for giving me the chance. I was deserving [to play]. You can see I’m even in tears,” Motloung told SuperSport TV.

“I’m very emotional because I was first at Kaizer Chiefs, so playing against them is a big opportunity,” he revealed.

“I was never given a chance at Chiefs so I had to move to Polokwane to further my talent. I had a lot to prove, I’ve been working very hard throughout the season and in the pre-season. The coach saw the best in me. He put me inside the lion’s den so I had to play and prove myself,” Motloung said.
