Phumo hails Walaza

Walaza has risen rapidly from a bench warmer at Bucs to being the main source of goals at the Soweto giants.

Since the arrival of new coach Owen da Gama, he has stabbed in a brace twice in two games to emerge as the top scorer at the club.

Phumo, who worked with the 20 year-old for lengthy periods in the national team development ranks, affirms that there has always been something positive going for Walaza.

“The biggest advantage that the boy has is that he is coachable and is disciplined. When you give him instructions, he follows them and he is always ready to listen. That is the characteristic that will make him a striker who will grow from strength to strength.

“He is an honest forward that you will always feel positive with. He is frank and open about his approach. I told him to be stronger on the ball and to work his game towards his strengths.

“His running off the ball is brilliant while his movements in the box has always been fantastic.

“Excellent’s game is built around running into spaces and his ability to anticipate. He runs very hard at all times and never stops trying and thus I believe he will continue scoring.

“He just needs to work under a coach who will show belief in him because he is still young,” says the former Bloemfontein Celtic coach.
