Parreira quits Bafana

The Brazilian decided to return home, according to his wife Leila, who spoke to the media back home in Brazil.

A Safa official confirmed to that the 65-year-old is quitting his job and added that further details would be revealed at a press conference on Monday.

Parreira’s wife was quoted by Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo as saying: “He has already taken the decision and is set to return to Brazil early next month.”

The tabloid also says that Parreira will still be involved in football, but not in a coaching capacity.

The 1994 World Cup winner took charge of Bafana last year February and although he was criticised after announcing almost every squad he selected, the national team showed massive improvement, culminating in the biggest success to date, a 3-0 win over Paraguay last month.
