Paraguay team here for Wednesday’s match

Bafana Bafana have a full house in the camp following the arrival of striker Benni McCarthy just after lunch time today (Monday).

Speaking at a Press conference in Pretoria today, both Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parreira and his captain, Aaron Mokoena, said the team will be gunning for a positive result against the visitors whom Parreira described as ‘a very strong team’.

“This game is a continuation from the Afcon. We have to see how far we have come since the tournament in Ghana. I expect the team to improve on the way played in Ghana.

“Paraguay is a very good team; physically strong with a good defensive record. It is also good that they are taking this game very seriously as they are preparing for a World Cup qualifying game against Brazil in June, it is good to see that they have brought nine international players.

“Getting a positive result against Paraguay will be resounding in terms of building confidence in the team. It will be important to play good football on Wednesday and get good results.”

Mokoena told the media that has he has spoken to his teammate at Blackburn Rovers, Roque Santa Cruz and says ‘The Rock’ is excited and looking forward to the game between South Africa and Paraguay on Wednesday.

“Santa is a very good striker. I played against him during the South Korea and Japan World Cup and it will be interesting to come up against him again on Wednesday.”
