Bucs eager to test player combinations

Pirates, who have been training for almost two weeks now, hope to use the Mbombela Cup on July 22 as a platform to sharpen their skills before an important campaign that will see them defending their three titles.
"We are in the process of completing the processes that will ensure that we take part in the Mbombela Cup," club spokesperson Mickey Modisane tells KickOff.com.
"Such games are important to the coach as he [Palacios] will be able to gauge the preparedness of the players.
"We have been training hard for some time now since we regrouped and engaging other teams in friendly matches is an important part of these preparations," adds Modisane.
Pirates, who have already lost players such as Isaac Chansa and Benson Mhlongo during the transfer window, have signed Onyekachi Okonkwo, Patrick Phungwayo, Ayanda Gcaba, Khethowakhe Masuku, Aubrey Ngoma and Manti Moholo to their ranks.
The Mbombela Cup, to be played at the Mbombela Stadium, will also feature Mamelodi Sundowns, Sivutsa Stars and Swazi Champions Mbabane Swallows.
