A brace in France's 5-2 quarter-final victory over Iceland means that he has netted 10 in his last nine appearances for the national team.
Benzema's omission from Les Bleus Euro squad due to an on-going scandal has left Giroud as Didier Deschamps' first-choice striker, a decision that was met with a fair degree of derision from the fans.
Despite this Giroud has taken up the mantle of goal-scorer and coped admirably, quelling the talk of Benzema in the process although he reveals that it never really bothered him in the first place.
"I admit I don't really think about that," he told reporters. "I'm thinking about the team and the objectives of the game.
"I'm not really thinking about Karim. I'm just thinking about the French team.
"Perhaps he'll come back. I don't really have any problems with him.
"There are no problems and nothing for sure for me to say against him. I do not make it a personal case.
"I'm having fun in this competition with the French team and trying to realise our objective. That's it."
