Obua tells why he rejected Bucs offer

This is disclosed in an interview with the Kampala Daily Monitor.

Obua said that when his contract with Kaizer Chiefs expired on June 30, he could have easily joined English Premiership side West Ham United, Italian Serie A outfit Chievo and South Africa’s Mighty Buccaneers, but there was only one team for him once he knew that Csaba wanted him at the Tyneside club.

“I enjoyed working with Csaba when he was still the national coach and when he talked me into joining him at Hearts, there was no other option for me but to heed his offer,” said the lanky midfielder.

“I’m so relieved the work permit has been secured. I cannot wait to reunite with Csaba. He is a good manager that commands a lot respect wherever he goes. Hopefully, I will be part of his plans and hope to win some silverware with him.”

In a press statement posted on the club’s website, Obua explained Csaba’s far-reaching influence.

“He is the person who has really made me who I am today. West Ham United, Chievo and Pirates were interested in signing me, but Csaba is the reason I decided to come to Hearts,” he adds.
