Second-placed Stellenbosch thumped Mthatha Bucks 4-0 to move within seven points of leaders Thanda Royal Zulu, Stanley Muishond netting a hat-trick for the Cape-based side.

Third-placed Black Leopards beat fourth-placed AmaZulu 3-2 to keep level on 43 points with Stellenbosch. Mamelodi Sundowns’ on-loan youngster Khayelihle Shozi got the winner for Ludoda Duvha in the 84th minute.

Usuthu are two points further back on 41, a point ahead of fifth-placed Royal Eagles who secured a 1-0 win at Real Kings, while sixth-placed Witbank Spurs are also on 41 points after a 3-2 win over Milano United.

Meanwhile, 10th-placed Jomo Cosmos’ dreams of returning to the top-flight are slipping away quickly after a 1-0 defeat at FC Cape Town and Santos look dead and buried down at the bottom of the table after a 3-0 defeat at Mbombela United.

Thanda can take another step closer to the NFD title and automatic promotion when they host second-from-bottom Magesi at Umhlathuze Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon. Kick-off is at 15h00.
