Mthembu could be a witness

Mthembu has written to Safa stating that he has decided to accept the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber’s ruling that he is an Orlando Pirates.

But in doing so, the player has stated that he was never consulted about the appeal that Chiefs lodged after the DC’s ruling.

Chiefs deny this outright, with Amakhosi team manager Bobby Motaung stating on the club’s website that, “The matter was discussed with him (Mthembu) and his family to an extent that a delegation from his family came to meet with us so as to discuss the way forward post the ruling of the DRC.”

The upshot of this is that Amakhosi will not be withdrawing their case to the Appeal Board and the matter is set to go ahead on November 16.

Independent insider sources say that it is not unusual for players to lodge written submissions, however, the Appeal Board is likely to request that the youngster present himself at Sunday’s hearing so as to give evidence personally in the event that he is needed for questioning by the Board on the contents, or other circumstances, surrounding the letter.
