The Santos goal was scored by Koena Mathopa.
The home side played well especially during the first half and had they taken some of the good scoring opportunities created they could have scored at least two more goals.
United defended well during the second half, and in the end held out for the win.
In the 3rd minute Thembile Kanono nearly scored for Santos when his hard shot went narrowly past the upright.
Erwin Isaacs tested United keeper Andre Arendse in the 15th minute when he back healed the ball towards goal and forced the keeper to make a save.
United took the lead in the 19th minute when Katlego Mphela scored with a stunning long-range shot in the top corner giving keeper Wayne Roberts no chance.
Koena Mathopa got the equalizer with a header from an Isaacs free kick from the right in the 33rd minute.
Mphela scored again in the 44th minute when his long-range shot was saved by Roberts the ball rebounded out to Mphela who scored with a low shot at the second attempt.
The second half was not as exciting at the first but United to their credit defended well and deserved the win in the end.
