Motsepe outlines expectations

Speaking at a press conference in Sandton yesterday where the Chloorkop-based outfit unveiled 10 new players, Motsepe said he expects his team to start the new season with a more aggressive approach and compete hard going forward for 2010.

He added that his expectations were that Sundowns would top the log at the end of the 2008/09 season.

“From now until 2010 we must compete hard. Sundowns must not finish fourth, that is not in our terminology. Positions 2 and 3 are also not in our terminology.

“Sundowns deserve to be number 1 in the league and so I am already looking forward to an exciting new season. I am confident that we will be more aggressive towards achieving our goals this season.”

Motsepe also promised to continue paying his players good salaries and said that this would help improve the standard of soccer in South Africa.

“My wife wanted to come with me to the press conference, but when she heard how much I spent buying players this season, she decided to stay at home,” he said jokingly.
