Jose Mourinho’s side took the lead midway through the first half, however the Italians struggled for most of the game against the dominant Greeks at the Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium.
The former Ajax Cape Town winger was the most impressive and threatened in the 29th minute with a superb effort from just outside the area, but his dipping shot from 25 yards out was tipped over the crossbar by Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar.
Cesar denied Moon again minutes later with a comfortable save at his near post.
Moon finally got the better of Cesar in the 42nd minute, but the winger’s deflected effort came back off the crossbar.
Although Inter managed to seal the game when they doubled their lead in the second half via a goal by Brazilian striker Adriano, Moon’s performance was by far the most outstanding on the night.
