Mendu dusts off his boots

The latest player to dust off his boots and join the former Amakhosi assistant coach is former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jabulan ‘S-Curl’ Mendu.

Mendu has been in the wilderness for almost a year now after parting ways with Moroka Swallows and, at the age of 32, the Boksburg-born midfielder believes that he can still make it in top flight football.

Khan also believes that Mendu has the ability to reproduce the same magic that he displayed at both Amakhosi and the Brazilians, and the form that won him four Bafana Bafana caps.

“Mendu looks very good at training. He is presently working hard on his fitness and I think that within in a few weeks he will be in tip top condition again.

“From what I have seen of him at training, I believe he can still make the grade in the PSL. I understand that he trained with SuperSport United during the off-season and impressed coach Gavin Hunt, but I don’t know why he was not signed.”

Khan, who was instrumental in paving the way for former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates midfielder Jabu Mahlangu to return to Sweden on a loan deal, is also presently accommodating former Bloemfontein Celtic defender Didier Mbendje at his academy.
