Mashego turned the Super Stadium into a one-man show, coming off the bench at the start of the second half to force Swallows’ goalkeeper Greg Etafia to collect balls four times behind his net.

Speaking after the game at Atteridgeville Super Stadium, Mashego said would treasure his feat against the Beautiful Birds for the rest of his life.

“This is greatest moment that since I started playing professional football. I have never score four goals in one game, so this is one day that I will never forget.

“Not only am I happy for myself, but that I was able to help my team climb back to the top of the log.”

United coach Gavin Hunt showered Mashego with praise after his excellent performance and expressed the hope that his team will maintain the same form in the two remaining fixtures.

“Mashego had excellent game when he came in for the second half. We have Golden Arrows on Wednesday and it is important that we approach the last two matches with same attitude as we displayed against Moroka Swallows in the second half.”
