Speaking after the loss to Mamelodi Sundowns, Tinkler was asked how they will keep up the motivation of the team during the long break until their next encounter against Bloemfontein Celtic on April 5.

"Most people don't understand the impact of this break to players, you gotta understand how they feel, players are feeling worse than anyone, knowing their situation which will be on their minds throughout this period," he said.

Tinkler was asked how he is planning to keep them motivated and fit to prepare for their last push for survival. In April the Team of Choice's future will be decided with many tough encounters lined up.

"It's gonna be hard work for everyone, we will have to organise a few friendlies to keep them motivated and focused, we need to keep that intensity and to tell the truth, it won't be easy at all, it's a very long break for us," he added.

Maritzburg's next five games will see them host Celtic, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United then travel to Highlands Park and Black Leopards. They will have to avoid defeat in all of those matches to repeat their 'great escape' of 2015/16.
