Balotelli faces Reds backlash

Balotelli and Real Madrid defender Pepe exchanged shirts at the break, with Liverpool already 3-0 down, with the striker than failing to appear for the second half as Adam Lallana replaced him.

Rodgers explained afterwards the change was done to give the team more movement through the middle, but added he would ‘deal with Balotelli’ today.

"It is not something I stand for," the Ulsterman said. "If you want to do that, do it at the end of the game. It is something I will deal with on Thursday."

Rodgers added: "We had an incident last year with a player and that was something we dealt with internally. It's something that doesn't happen here and shouldn't happen here."

On that occasion Mamadou Sakho swapped shirts with then Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o.

Balotelli has so far managed just one goal in 10 matches, with his teammates visibly upset with his antics in the recent 3-2 win against QPR.
