Moyes defends Nani after boos

Nina was replaced by Adnan Januzaj in the 58th minute against Stoke, with the Red Devils 2-1 down.

He had a hand in United’s first goal, but overall put in a poor performance.

The hosts came back to win the game 3-2, after late goals from Wayne Rooney and Chicharito.

“It was a win in the Premier League. They are hard to come by and they are not easy,” Moyes said.

“It was a big moment to win the game and hopefully we will continue to win games. If it’s in the same fashion then we’ll take it, but if we can make it a bit easier it will be great for the old ticker.”

The goals saved Moyes from a third straight home match without a victory, but fans remained unimpressed with United’s poor passing and woeful finishing.

And the Old Trafford crowd directed most of their criticism at Nani, and Moyes hinted his plance may be in danger.

“He is a regular and captain for Portugal so he is very talented,” Moyes said.

“There were one or two decisions he might have made better, but he got us the [first] goal with a lovely ball.

“We have a lot of competition for places in the wide areas, incredible competition, and that is what we’re looking for.”
