Sangweni opened the scoring for Sundowns when they beat Kaizer Chiefs 4-1 in the MTN8 Quarter-final on Sunday at Loftus Versveld Stadium.
The midfielder also assisted in the second goal scored by Tebogo Langerman.
"I am so happy that I scored a goal in my first game for Sundowns. What put the icing on the cake is that we won the game against a big team like Kaizer Chiefs," says Sangweni.
"I think my team-mates deserve credit as they have made me feel at home since I arrived here at Sundowns. I can't forget the technical team who have also helped me to fit in.
"I hope this is the beginning of good things to come with my career at the club," he adds.
The Brazilians also handed Langerman, Wayne Arendse and Edward Manqele their debuts against Amakhosi.
Langerman and Manqele scored for Sundowns in Sunday's convincing win.
Downs coach Johan Neskeens was impressed with his team's general performance including those of his new signings.
"I am very pleased that we won the game 4-1 and we did extremely well against a fantastic team like Chiefs. I think in the first-half we played good football and our movement off the ball was excellent. We also created lot of chances to score goals.
"We did well to stop Chiefs playing their game. I was pleased with the way we performed over the whole 90 minutes and my players deserve a big compliment," he adds.
